When paired with the PERS-2400B or PERS-3600B Emergency Reporting Consoles, they offer a number of configuration options to notify the client, Central Station, and the PERS provider of potential equipment “trouble” conditions.
Both transmitters employ a 150mAH lithium ion “coin cell” battery (CR2032) and are designed to send out a low-battery report, and will do so under most normal operating conditions.
The PERS provider should be informed that if a pendant transmitter has become broken or damaged, through abuse or otherwise, it might not be able to function. The transmitter may not be able to send alarm, status, or low battery signals. Also, if the transmitter is out of range of the Console when its battery gets low (i.e. if a client takes their pendant with them when leaving their home) the Console may never receive status, alarm, or low battery transmissions from the pendant while it’s away from the Console.
Linear recommends, as printed in the instructions supplied with each pendant, that it’s important to test the PERS system weekly. Understanding that it can be a challenge for a PERS provider to burden their clients to initiate this weekly testing, capabilities are built into the products for automated testing.
If a PERS provider desires to be notified if a pendant fails to report into the console – they can choose to turn on status exception reporting, and enable transmitter supervision. The 24-hour supervision interval (which verifies the pendant’s operation) can be used along with daily, weekly or monthly automated test reports to ensure that the Console, and its associated transmitters are fully functional and reporting to the Central Station.
